Plenty of apps and browser extensions claim to show who viewed your Facebook profile. Here is why none of them actually can.
Facebook does not track or share this
Facebook does not offer any feature, official or otherwise, that shows who viewed your profile, and it never has. This has been confirmed repeatedly by Facebook itself. Any app, extension or website claiming to reveal your profile visitors is not using real data from Facebook, because that data does not exist for them to access.
Why the myth persists
The idea has circulated since Facebook’s early years, and third-party apps have repeatedly exploited it because it plays on genuine curiosity. These apps typically ask you to grant permissions or complete surveys, which generates revenue for the app developer while providing fabricated or randomly generated results.
The risk of using these apps
Beyond simply not working, apps that promise this feature often request broad access to your Facebook account or personal information, which can expose your data or even lead to your account being compromised. Facebook actively removes many of these apps when discovered, but new ones regularly appear.
What Facebook does show instead
While you cannot see who viewed your profile, Facebook does show some related, real signals: who reacted to or commented on your posts, who is active in Messenger, and (for Facebook Stories specifically) a list of who viewed your story, which is a genuine, built-in feature.
